Janet Clothier
Janet Clothier is the Founder and President of JSC Legal Accounting. She has been specializing in accounting and administration services, primarily for small law firms, since 1986. In 2015 she transitioned her firm into a virtual one, allowing all her team members to work from home. When COVID-19 hit in early 2020, this enabled JSC Legal Accounting to assist clients effectively and efficiently during the lockdown. With the depth of experience she has developed from so many years in law firm accounting, Janet is well positioned to take on any small law firm’s requirements, no matter how complex.
When she is not working, Janet is paddling, training and racing on outrigger and dragon boat teams, both in Vancouver and around the world.
Kari Jurick
Kari joined the JSC team in 2024. She brings previous experience from both bookkeeping and managing positions, such as a bookstore and a counselling office. She enjoys solving puzzles and writing stories in her down time.
Kari lives in Langley with her loving dog, and two geckos. She enjoys going to the dog park and spending time with her family.
Laura West
Laura recently joined the JSC Legal Accounting team. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Laura discovered her love for accounting during her undergraduate studies.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she made a transition into the legal industry, finding her stride in fast-paced legal environments. Laura deepened her expertise by completing the Diploma in Accounting Program at the UBC Sauder School of Business and has since gained two years of specialized accounting experience working with law firms.
Outside of work, you can find her carving slopes in the winter or sailing the coastlines come summer.
Sheila F. (Joey) Murphy
Joey joined JSC Legal Accounting in 2023. She is a certified payroll professional, with 30 years of experience, and has volunteered with the National Payroll Institute for the last 6 years. Joey is well-equipped to take on any small law firm’s payroll requirements.
Now that her 3 children have reached adulthood, Joey has more time to enjoy gardening, cycling, and paddling on her home turf, Gabriola Island.
Alicia Poon
Alicia has been with JSC for almost eight years and enjoys working with the team. She has spent many years as a legal assistant in Vancouver and has now added Legal Accountant to her resume!
Alicia lives in Burnaby and enjoys travelling in her spare time.
Summer Wan
Summer joined the JSC family in 2024. She has more than 7 years bookkeeping experience in law firms before becoming a JSC team member. She has great enthusiasm for efficiency and accuracy in accounting.
Summer enjoys playing tennis after work.
